Dudydoo
Hi, I've been looking everywhere for a simple way to change the refresh rate that X is set to. How can I find out what its already running at? On Windows I always have the RR set to 85hz, which is what I want my X configured at. X is loading currently at 1024x768 without a problem, but hard on the eyes. I am running XFree86 ver 4.2.1 TIA P.S. Is there a GUI tool to configure X? mezz
Find VertRefresh in your /etc/X11/XF86Config under the monitor section. If you want 85Hz, then do this ex. VertRefresh 85-100 85-100 is range. If you want to do 90, then do 90-xxx.. It's your choice. How can I find out what its already running at?Hit some buttons on your monitor, often it should shows you how much Hz it's running.P.S. Is there a GUI tool to configure X? None, not really good. Few Linux distros have good own GUI configure, they made it. You can use their XF86Config and bring all around in Linux/BSD or diff OS as long there has XFree86 4.xx. neowin_hipster
Three ways -Many distros have a display gui and everything that detect and do it for you -Manually enter the hsync and vsync values in /etc/X11/XF86Config -Use the console and type in XF86Config and go through all the steps. 1 and 2 are the best ways. You should also enter in the range for the horizontal values as well as the vertical.
