RaisinCain
do yourself a favor & get Mandrake 9.0- it's sweet man! :D
Xe|oN
Some you can run are Kopete, KMerlin and AMSN. Kopete and KMerlin are KDE apps while AMSN is just an X app. If your like me you'll use wine (I use crossover) and run Trillian :p

Xenomorph
Surpised me, nobody say gaim, which it's one of best IM client out there in the *nix world. i LOVE gaim. even in Windows. i think its better than Trillian even. i dont use all the bells and whistles Trillian has, but i do have lots of accounts on different services. with Trillian, i could only add one AIM and one Yahoo account. with GAIM, i can ad my MSN account, some two AIM accounts i use, two Yahoo accounts i use, etc, etc.

Gaim surely have many IM supports, but less options on each of those. Trillian has lesser, but more options on them. SecureIM is missing in gaim that I want. What I want gaim to add following: 1) SecureIM 2) Add few more options for ICQ 3) Someone create a nice plugin similar to Trillian's news plugin. Then, I will be very happy man. Overall, I like gaim and trillian both, they both are balance. If gaim add those above, then gaim will win me full.

mezz
wow, kopete looks wikid!!!!!! what advantages does gaim have over kopete if i only wanna use msn? Try both of them.. Gaim has more features than Kopete has such as tab and etc. But, gaim uses gtk (gnome) and Kopete uses qt (KDE), so gaim will match with gnome themes or whatever. Kopete will match with KDE's theme. Gaim will work in KDE and Kopete will work in Gnome, thought. It's up to your personal prefer.
neowin_hipster
Gaim will work in kde and gnome as well as koepte. I believe you can also compile other window managers with support for qt and gtk.
