Fotix
Player made by Winamp (Nullsoft contracted) plugin programmer PP, known for his plugins. What's new recently: 0.41a [hotfix]: - fixed id3v2 tag skipping with mpc (was broken in 0.41) 0.41 - some tweaks/cleanups in user interface - moved title formatting config page to display category - reduced mem usage with huge playlists - made it possible to totally disable database / metadata processing - added helper class for performing short seek back operations on unseekable sources, mp3 streaming now works - fixed some bugs in mpc file info reading introduced in 0.4 0.4: - bumped api version number, pre-0.4 components no longer load - replaced playlist listbox with hand-coded window class - "remove duplicates" no longer applies sort to playlist - fixed dll unloading safety with playlist_entry pointers returned by components (use playlist_entry_creator) - added simple api interfaces for modifying / querying playlist - fixed titleformatting help not showing with custom sorting dialog - new hackfix for window-remaining-visible-on-win9x, confirmed working this time - added vorbis_vendor to tech infos - added resuming playback after restart - major changes in file reader stuff - nuked database format again (new way of storing file paths) - simple internet file reader (foo_read_inet.dll), nonseekable, supports http/https/ftp, works only with vorbis and mpc so far - some changes in directsound output to prevent "repeating" when input lags - config window no longer blocks main window - dsound.dll now loaded on demand, so foo_output_std.dll loads if theres no dsound.dll present (got win95a ?) - cleaned up metadb interface in sdk - %_playlist_number% and %_length_seconds% in titleformatting Download More what's new? Official Site Early in development, no real "eye candy" yet, so if you judge a player by its skins this probably isn't for you ;). Adaptable for many plugins. A lot of features and development occuring though. I use it more than Winamp3 on Windows most of the time now. Just a "heads up". :D foobar2000 feature list (outdated): * supported formats: MP3, Ogg Vorbis, MPC, FLAC, Ogg FLAC, WAV, MOD (needs foo_mod.dll), SPC (needs foo_spc.dll), Monkey's Audio (needs foo_ape.dll) * 32bit floating point audio processing pipeline, with 6dB hard limiter and conversion to 16/24bit (dithered) at the end. * lossy formats (MP3, Vorbis, MPC) are decoded directly to 32bit FP so there's no clipping * transparent rar/zip reading (slow) * full unicode support, new playlist format (m3u8) storing international filenames properly (using UTF-8) * built in SSRC resampler component (DSP) * reads APEv2 tags from MP3 files (id3v2 is not supported and will never be) * fully customizable keyboard shortcuts, including global hotkeys Edited January 9, 2003 by Fotix
guru
i've been using it since 0,3 pretty good if u ask me.sound quality is as good as winamp if not better.where fooobar scores is in cpu usage and memory handling very low compared to winamp :D not to mention minimalistic interface whichs refreshing considering all the skinning that goes on these days :D. Danrarbc
I personally don't like it all that much. I prefer having an interface, and even my P3 733 has plenty of power to run Winamp 2/Winamp 3/WMP9 without slowing me down. Maybe if I had less of a CPU I'd appreciate the low usage more, or if my games didn't have custom in-game music options and I had to use an external player for music. is there a screenshot of it somewhere??? Here you go. I disabled my Windows skin to show that foo was not doing the skinning, although you probably could have figured that out anyway. +.Aaron Subscriber¹ Posted January 10, 2003 Subscriber¹ Share Posted January 10, 2003 Thanks for the screenies, but I do have a question, does it work under XP? B/c on the main page, there is not awhole lot there about what it requires and the dl links are for the older OSes and non for XP. I am assuming it does work under XP, but I am not sure. LMK.
