glockfan
Hello, I am looking for a good solid linux distro to use. I have tried mandrake and redhat 8. Is there a better one? My main goal is ease of use.
mezz
If Mandrake and RedHat aren't ease to use for you, then stick to Windows. You can try Lycoris (sp?) and Xandros, but I doubt if there's any difference for easier one.
uniacid
nope.. redhat and mandrake are prolly the easiest, unless you wanna use lindows heh.

jimf43
Try SuSE. As easy, but not any more easy than Red Hat or Mandrake
dmd3x
As easy, but not any more easy than Red Hat or Mandrake  Yup. It is more solid.
neowin_hipster
suse is really cool. mandrake is good too. If you're having a hard time using them you should really start to read some *nix tutorials.
Kokolores
I tried SuSE, it's still very buggy. I have been trying it every once in a while since 6.0. They want to offer everyone everything, so there's a load of sh*t on their CDs - things you will never need + things that will never work. I'd advice you to use Xandros. It's a debian based distro, so it has all the benefits like apt-get and it's very stable. I didn't think I could ever get along without KDE3 (Xandros uses KDE2.2), but in fact I don't miss anything, even think KDE2.2 to be a bit more stable. The built-in filemanager is very cute and extremely easy to handle, file associations are preconfigured thouroughly. Get it (ehm well, you will find it somewhere ;)) and test it. btw Lycoris didn't work on my computer at all.
bud1979
my vote is Gentoo. the best distro out there. Although it might take some time for you to set it up you will learn linux and when you are done there is not easier way to update your packages than emerge <packagename> I used to use redhat, it is great for a quick install and use but Gentoo is the best out there. So much faster and you dont get the bloat like you do in redhat or suse
