The Microsoft? Broadband Networking product group has teamed up with BetaPlace to offer a Broadband Networking beta testing program.

If you want to participate in the Broadband Networking beta program, you can apply by logging on to BetaPlace and filling out a screening survey. The survey helps the Broadband Networking product team determine whether your network setup and other considerations meet the beta program?s requirements.

In order to use and test the Broadband Networking components that are part of the beta program, your network setup must meet a few minimum requirements. Before visiting BetaPlace and filling out the screening survey, you?ll want to ensure that you have the following:

An active broadband Internet connection.

Two or more computers, each running Microsoft Windows 98, Windows 98 SE, Windows Me, or Windows XP.

A laptop computer as part of your network. If you don?t have a laptop computer, then one of your computers needs a PCI/PCMCIA adapter.

If your network setup meets the minimum requirements and you want to apply for participation, do the following:

Go to BetaPlace.

Do one of the following:

If you already have a Passport.com or Hotmail.com Passport account, click Sign In.

If you don?t have a Passport.com or Hotmail.com Passport account, follow the instructions on the page for creating one, and then return to the sign-in screen.

Type your e-mail address and password, and then click Sign In.

Click I have been issued a Guest ID by Microsoft.

In the Guest ID box, type Networking, and then click OK. The ID is case-sensitive, so be sure to type the capital ?N.?

Click Microsoft Broadband Networking.

Read about the beta program and screening survey. To participate, click Survey, and then click Screening Survey.

Complete and submit the survey.

Participation isn?t guaranteed, but if your responses meet the necessary criteria, and you?re selected to participate, a representative will contact you through BetaPlace.

that was one long survey

i think they're creating a Home Internet Gateway Device, that has a Modem, Router and Printer Server all in one, quite like the new Motorola Gateway that just came out

I think this becuase, they start asking you questions about your firewall usage and whether you use a printer or not, and how its connected.

"Networking" no longer works -- I think they know it was being passed around.

After entering Networking and hitting okay I get:

Your login attempt failed.

The Guest ID you entered has been locked out of BetaPlace. Please ensure you are not using your Beta ID to login. You must wait 24 hours before attempting to sign in again.

EDIT:

Doh! I just read the official MS page -- So, I am not sure why I can't login...hmmm.....I'll wait 24 and see what happened
