NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GX2 pics, specs leaked

Details aren't quite hard and fast, but this is NVIDIA's top-of-the-line to-be, so it's never too early to start nerding out. [H]ard|OCP says the best way to think of the GeForce 9800 GX2 is a 8800 that's been shrunk down to 65nm and SLI'd onto a "single" card. The card is supposed to be at least 30% faster than a 8800 Ultra, and will apparently support Quad SLI. So, now for the really nerdy part:

  • 1GB frame buffer
  • Two PCBs
  • Two 65nm GPUs
  • 256 Stream Processors

That's the way [H]ard|OCP tells it, and who are we to argue?

reminds me of the 7950GX2 Fiasco : driver nightmares, overheating, meager performance gains for a VERY hefty premium compared to the generation released 3 months later

that's a skip for me

they'd better bring the real Mono Chip Series 9 asap instead of releasing POS's like that

but that thing still won't fit in my computer.

Chances are that is not the final design, but an in-house design.

Who the hell will have money to buy this monster, let alone using it in quad sli form. I am struggling to get 8800 and now this (hopefully the prices for 8800 will go down now).

Wonder how much power it going to consume? but otherwise nice

Probably not as much as you might first think, considering these are the newer 65nm fabrication process cards.

This tells few about it, just that will be very expensive and 1/3 more speed than the top claa card, witch is nice.

Im excited to check the new 9000 series card, i own and 7800GT and i skipped 8k generation, i might think on buying a 9k GT version.

Thanks for the news

Wow that things almost a foot long.

How the hell can you see through my moni... oh the card, right. :shiftyninja:

Anyway, yeah sweet card, but hopefully the price on the 8800s will drop so I can get that ultra soon.

Two 65nm GPUs and it's only 30% better than the 8800 Ultra, wow. I guess it's 7950 GX2 all over again. Oh and this card certainly won't run Crysis at 60fps/1280x1024. Also, ATi will not be releasing a new GPU architecture this year so if this is NVIDIA's top dog card then we have no alternative.
