Windows Media Player 12

Nothing is known about it right now, and I myself doubt Microsoft is putting much effort into it right now. Maybe there will an update in future service packs or patches for Vista, but as of yet, nothing.

better give it a more cleaner UI WMP11 on XP so doesn't fit into XP's native UI they really need to work on that, WMP10 had it pretty good.

I'd like to see them add support for other formats, specialy in the library. Why should all my mp4 and mkv files showup under "other" that makes me have to switch from one listing with all the .avi/wmv to another just to see the rest. And i'm getting even more and more mkv files as time passes.

Having to do a registry hack just to get WMP to show them in the first place under "other" is a pain.

The DirectShow filter you had to install to get them to play probably should have made that registry entry. I'd blame them.

Your not going to see or hear about Windows Media for a while, the target right now is Vista, and making it better for customers.

Plus, what's wrong with 11? Need I remind you that WMP 11 came out before Vista was released.

It will probally come out same time as Windows 7 and be intergrated into it most likely :p However, I'm quite happy with WMP11 honistly, it just works and does what I need

Do we really need a new one? And yeah, it'll be coming. It's probably sitting in the same box as Internet Explorer 8 - oneday it'll just spring out!

I personally like WMP 11, though my favorite of all time is 8! Remeber 8? The one that was on XP for like a month before 9 replaced it! Most people probably never even heard of it, since by the time that the majority went to XP from 2000 or 98, WMP 9 was already everywhere!

Windows Media Player Evolution - Part 1

Note: I can't find any screens of WMP 1-4

Here is WMP5, 6, 7. These were primarily on Win 95-2000.
