Windows Vista SP1 Refresh Available

Recommended Posts

So I did the clean install of Vista SP1 Refresh.

+Seems faster

+4GB RAM now detected in 32-bit version

+No chattering Hard Disk after install

+So far all software installed, including NOD32 Version 3.0.621.0

+Explorer tasks very quick, noticably faster than RTM

-Real usable RAM still 3.32GB

That's it for now.

Thanks for the review :)

I have also tested Bioshock and Crysis, both games are running well. Both feel more responsive and smoother with this latest (and last?) RC version of Vista SP1.

So far nothing but (Y) for Vista SP1 Refresh.

As you can see on this screen shot of the properties sheet of the exe linked to it is not the same build as what people are saying is on connect and the timestamp also says 30th novemeber........

It's the original one. Look here.

Yes but we are talking about the sizes of the standalone packages.... and these are different!

so the wave 1 is the most recent one then? cool im downloading now

im guessing i have to uninstall the one SP1 first

Dont bother because wave 1 and wave 0 both carry the same build numbers.... i just downloaded and checked. Bit wierd but i suppose this was all an understanding. neonerds is a good site for more information tho ............ :shiftyninja:

^^

I got a french system and used wave 0 . But in order to stop everyone : THIS IS NOT THE RC REFRESH (build version is still .668 ) !! So don't waste your time d/l and installing wave 1.

IIRC you'll need to reboot again after you uninstall the SP to remove the "Evaluation Copy" from your Desktop.

There appears to be no desktop reminder on the refresh, and no expiry date!

Just rebooted and the reminder and expiry date reappeared!!

Managed to get it installed. Decided not to go the clean install route but instead went through and uninstalled the old version then installed this version. Whole process took 4 hours but surprisingly didnt break anything. Everything seems to be working well but having used the public release for so long now i cant actually see any differences between that one and this 'new' refresh!

Anyone else found any differences?
