werwolf
ive created a user, and placed his home directory on a mounted VFAT partition, when i try to log in under the account i first get a message telling me that "your preferences files are currently in use", but gives me the option to continue, as i do, but right after it tells me to contacted the administrator because it cannot read gconf, but ive set up fstab to give the vfat partition readwrite permissions to all groups and users. any ideas? and, oh, im using RedHat 8.
Vlad
Yes. Don't make home directories vfat. Vfat can't carry over file permissions and are therefore not a good thing to have for your home directories - especially since many programs depend on being able to get/set these permissions.
