lol, yeah installing stuff of Linux ain't the easiest thing, regardless of what everyone tells you about how great RPMs. Check out http://freshrpms.net/ and download apt-get and synaptic to make your life much easier. As far as where things go when they are installed, there should be some indication in the read me file.

To open the terminal, it's on the red hat menu, under System Tools. And to run configure you need gcc+ installed, which isn't part of the basic installation...

So yeah, check out apt-get, it will make your life much easier.

ok i will try to be as clear as i can.

to get to a terminal go to the redhat (start button) and click on system tools. there will be a terminal icon there. once in there you can do your ./configure etc. as far as rpm goes, right click on the rpm in Xwindows and choose install. if that doesn't work for you open your terminal up and navigate to the directory that has your rpm and do a rpm -i <rpm name>

ROss
