+Elі Subscriber² Posted May 3, 2008 Subscriber² Share Posted May 3, 2008 I need to add some text to a video, but I cant find any free tool that would allow me to do it, anyone knows of a free program for this?
Mathachew Veteran Posted May 3, 2008 Veteran Share Posted May 3, 2008 From my little bit of knowledge, this would require you to edit the video (by adding the text) and then encoding the video. You can do this in Windows Movie Maker since you're running Vista and XP, but that can vary since it depends on if WMM can read the video.
paganinio
there's no difference between adding a picture to the video and adding text to the video. as long as Windows Movie Maker can open the video, you can add text to it. You can use Wordpad to format the text, press "Print screen" key to transform the text into image files, then insert the image files into your video. Dick Montage
paganinio: You seem to be spouting all sorts of half-baked answers to questions all over the forum. He didn't ask to add "a picture of some text" to the video - he asked to add the text. Windows Movie Maker will allow you to overlay text onto a video at a very basic level. But if you want more text format options, you can still use my method. if you download K-Lite Codec Pack Full(malware-free), you will be able to open almost every video file with Windows Movie Maker. That said, the OP's problem is solved.

This was asked about a couple of weeks ago. So you want to be able to batch image or text a video file I guess. Best I have used and purchased is Video Watermark. tensegrity
Youtube has a subtitle function which you can use if you is ok with publishing it on their site.
