Justin03248
I got a Core 2 Quad Extreme QX9650 and I was planning to encode a lot of videos, but I'm not overclocking, and the fan has two options, "Quiet" or "Performance," and the manual isn't to clear on what to use. Should I use the "Performance" mode (which has a lot of extra noise)...? if it has a benefit, I don't mind the extra noise, but I don't want extra noise that's not doing anything. Anyone familiar with this, let me know.
Mindovermaster Moderator Posted June 28, 2008 Moderator Share Posted June 28, 2008 I'm not actually sure, but i would think that Performance would run a bit faster and louder, but if that is just a small stock fan, I don't think it will do all that much.. Theres only so much air that can go through a small circle..

gwai lo
I'm not familiar with this, but I can tell you that processors do not perform any different at lower temperatures. So go with the quietest option if that's what you want, otherwise it doesn't matter which you choose as long as the temperatures are safe....which isn't something you really need to worry about as you're running stock anyway. jayshaw
If you aren't overclocking, there won't be any difference other than noise.
