I was doing a shoot the other day, and was taking my flash off the camera when a downpour started ran to my car and it fell into a puddle on the way :(.

Aw man that's terrible!

Have you ever shot in the rain? Pro gear's pretty damn solid. I've shot soccer games in the rain with my D90+70-200 with no problems. If you don't have the flash attached to the hotshoe on top of the camera and it's powered down, it can handle quite a bit (of "california rain") before there's problems. So if you're in that situation again, you probably don't need to rush so much. Unless it's pouring hardcore, which is rare where I'm from.

It was the sort of rain where your shirt is soaked in a 10 foot run.

We had a severe thunderstorm group where it just poured hard enough to flood half the town. :/
