Thief 3

Is anyone else highly anticipating this game? I sure as hell am!

For those of you who don't know, Thief hit back in 1998 as a groundbreaking game which pushed the barriers and limits of traditional gaming. Players no longer could run into a room shooting and blasting everything in sight, they had to stop and think, and more importantly, plan. 2 years later, in 2000, Thief 2 hit the stores and once again innovated and recreated gamplay as we knew it. However Thief 2 was often thought as a "massive add-on pack", simply because it used the same engine with updated features and slightly improved graphics.

Thief 3 is being built from the ground up this time. It is using an extremely customized and heavily modifed version of the Unreal Warfare engine. In fact, recent interviews with the developers has eluded to the fact that the engine has become almost completely original, and totally reworked to fit the Thief requirements and standards.

Most developer statements are posted over at Through The Looking Glass, a tribute site to the company that gave us such great games as Thief and System Shock. Although Thief-TheCircle is the biggest Thief fan site on the net as of right now, and is probably more indepth for Thief related topics. The official website for Thief 3 is still under development and hasn't been updated for some time. (Mostly due to the almost total media blackout that Ion Storm is holding over Thief 3)

So what is your thoughts about Thief 3? Are you just another closet-case loony fan boy like me?

Yes!!

I can't wait. Despite the fact Ion Storm hired a lot of the Looking Glass Studios developers, I must admit I'm a little wary if Ion Storm can live up to the challenge of developing Thief III.

God I wish I could play Thief again for the first time..

Ion Storm is more then capable of developing thief 2, just look at deus ex, and the future deus ex2.

Don't you mean Thief 3?

And @ persianpsycho, yes Thief 3 will feature multiplayer, or so it's been said.

Yup I loved Thief. The atmosphere was amazing, especially the Haunted Castle. I loved

the interaction of the guards etc. I suppose it was the original "sneak and kill" game, so

I hope Thief 3 breaks ground again.

Yes, Thief 2 is worth it. In fact, Edios just released a collectors edition package with both Thief 1 and Thief 2 for only $14. Look for it in stores. :ninja:

I never played Thief 2 but i played the first one and it was good cos it redifined the first person concept, but u can never have a first person strategy game I think Thief 3 should be like or have a 3rd person mode like Metal Gear Solid and Splinter Cell
