How to move the Inetpub folder to D:\

Recommended Posts

Hello there, I've just finished setting up my Windows Server 2003, but I don't know how to move the Inetpub folder to D:\. I don't like the idea of having my websites on my primary disk. And how to delete that annoying wmpub folder on C:\ I don't use the Windows Media stuff, so I don't need that folder. I hate to have folders in the root of C:\ which are not used.

Thanks in advance.

you have to stop your IIS service so that none of the files will be locked. then youll be able to move it to any disk drive you want. make sure you let IIS know when you bring it back up.

I also want to delete wmpub, but it is in use by winlogin.exe so you cant :(

I tried to set system NTFS options to none, but it still wont let me delete it :(
