Hurmoth
I'm sure that this has been asked before, but I installed Windows Server 2003 on my notebook last night. It was running perfectly until I installed Windows XP Professional and now the only bootable OS is WinXP Pro. How do I fix this, if possible? memoryx
Boot from the Windows Server 2003 CD, run the Recovery Console and try fixboot <main drive letter>:
Hurmoth
Boot from the Windows Server 2003 CD, run the Recovery Console and try fixboot <main drive letter>: Nope! Didn't work. I'll leave it for now, thank goodness it's not my most important computer or I'd be in serious trouble. Stats: C: Windows Server 2003, Standard Edition D: Windows XP Professional One odd thing is that Windows XP Professional is showing up as the first listed OS when it was installed last. Should this be opposite?
Joel
Recovery console using the 2003 CD, fixmbr. If that doesn't work, do a repair install. You overwrote the files 2003 needs to boot with older versions, this will replace them again.
Hurmoth
O.k., I fixed the problem! I tried every way I could possibly think of and the only way I found to make it bootable was to format the hard drive, make my partitions and install Windows XP Professional on the first partition (C:) and Windows Server 2003 on the second partition (D:). Thanks to everyone who helped though!
