blunden
same problem on x86eamon.sys caused a bluescreen at Stage 3 of update, booted into safemode, got rid of NOD32, reinstalled SP2 without NO32 -> very fast and then put it back on and no problems The same thing happened to me when installing one of the Escrow builds. When it had rolled back completely I saw that I had lost several GB on my system partition (I'm running out of space on that partition). It's still nowhere to be found. Will this installer see that and remove/replace it or will it calculate the space requirement before that?
Xerxes
The thing I don't get is, if it's RTM (and obviously floating around on the net) why are MS sitting on it till about June? I only say that because last I heard Vista SP2 was delayed...makes no sense to me!
Seppe
The thing I don't get is, if it's RTM (and obviously floating around on the net) why are MS sitting on it till about June? I only say that because last I heard Vista SP2 was delayed...makes no sense to me! Probably because it's servers are busy with windows 7 rc. Considering the public's interest in Windows 7 rc and the user base of Vista, releasing the 2 on the same day would've rendered their servers useless for weeks. blunden
I noticed that it did not try to clean up the old failed setup itself before telling me I didn't have enough free space. Does anyone know where my missing 3-4 GB from the failed install went? A slipstreamed image would be nice. I've yet to hear any more about the supposed slipstream functionality that was said to be built into SP2. Might just have been an old rumor though. statm1
you don't need to wait. A well known russian hosts them. Well, I know there are already slipstreamed versions out there already but they are user slipstreamed.. And unless I am mistaken the official iso hasnt been released yet. Not until the 19th. blunden
It seems Nod32 v4 still causes BSODs (when eamon.sys is loaded) during and after the SP2 install. :( The SP itself seems great so far though. :)
MagicAndre1981
@statm1 no, there are official ISOs out: 6002.18005.090410-1830_x86fre_Client_de-de-FRTMCFRE_DE_DVD.iso 6002.18005.090410-1830_x86fre_Client_en-us-FRTMCFRE_EN_DVD.iso

AndyMutz
@MagicAndre: Have you downloaded one of those images? and if you have is there a spinstall folder inside the sources folder? i have downloaded both images and they are both unmodified iso files from microsoft, as ALL of the files and directories have exactly the same timestamp.. -andy-
statm1
MagicAndre: Yep you have a user slipstreamed iso because without the spinstall folder it means that SP2 has already been installed and then the files have been recaptured. Unless things have changed since SP1. In any case we will find out on the 19th.
MagicAndre1981
no, this is the original MSFT ISO from the day when Sp2 RTM was build.
Thirtythree
Waiting for Warwagon in 3...2...1Seriously though, i'd recommend you keep quiet about stuff like that round here Not sure how obtaining a Service Pack from P2P would be "hush hush" here. It's not licensed software at all. The thing I don't get is, if it's RTM (and obviously floating around on the net) why are MS sitting on it till about June? I only say that because last I heard Vista SP2 was delayed...makes no sense to me! It's released to MSDN and TechNET Plus for IT professionals to install...not the general public. What corporate IT does and what the average Joe does on their computers are entirely different.

I just compared the SHA1 and CRC values of the x86 version I downloaded against the values posted at Technet/MSDN of the official versions. They're an exact match. So even though it's not posted, it's safe to assume the x64 is legit too. Almost 4 years I've been registered and this is my first post. Gotta be a record :p
statm1
I was mistaken I got in touch with someone with an MSDN account and they confirmed after I made that post that it has been changed for SP2. There isn't a separate installer included with the ISO this time to distinquish between user and MS slipstreamed ISOs.
