yes, it's recommended

:omg: what about Norton Antivirus? Should I uninstall that too? If thats the case then I won't install SP2 and wait for 6 months or so till Windows 7 comes out in holidays..

Well, its after 1PM EDT on the 19th, and no news... What did MS do, decide to say, 'Its done but we want you to update to Win7, so we are not going to release SP2'. ?

So if I slipstreamed SP1 when reformatting my computer do I have to start all over again? Because that would suck. A lot. Big time. Well not really big time, but it would still suck.

SP2 is not yet available to the general public yet, Typhon & Mystic. however, if you look at some of the comments at the bottom of this page:

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd335036.aspx

Microsoft will release Windows Vista SP2 to the Download Center and through Windows Update on May 26, 2009. Automatic Updates are scheduled to begin on June 30, 2009

personally, I'll be getting SP2 directly from either Microsoft source instead of at any torrent site, lol!

It should work.. to be honest, I'm testing that at the moment, except with a Business licence. I will let you know :D

If you check the SHA1 hashes, you can't go wrong really. I asked a friend to post the hashes of the files inside the DVD iso of the service packs (as it was one download with the x64, x86 editions inside) and the SHA1 matched those floating around the net.

Also, did you guys know about checking digital signatures for the service packs? I only just noticed this, but if you view the file properties sof any recent service pack from microsoft (I've tried XP SP3.. Vista SP1 and now SP2) whilst in XP, you can't seem to see the digital signature tab? it's like it's hidden? however, if you view file properties in Vista, there's a digital signature tab and you can go in and see when it was signed etc. What's up with that?! or is that normal? (I'm new to vista so apologies if this is the norm :p)

since i can't edit my above post.. Alex_is_Axel, it worked. Used my Vista business OEM key and it accepted and brought up the sp2_Bus_oem (or something like that) EULA... titled "Vista Business Service Pack 2" (again.. something like that.. very late here :p)

i'm guessing it will have no problems activating. the fact that it installed is the key thing as on Technet it did actually say:

Includes: Home Basic; Home Premium; Business-Retail; Ultimate;

but then when you go into it it says:

This file includes the following Windows Vista editions: Business, Business N, Home Basic, Home Basic N, Home Premium, and Ultimate.

Hooray.. no need to install SP1... SP2 .... and wait an hour or so :D

Anyone here has the technet or mdsn slipstreamed version of vista SP2 installed?

If anyone did and was home premium can you post the eula that appears in the end?
