I she a posting on the comib book resource forums - asking the same thing. Is that you? ;) could stand for "constant bit rate" - try opening in with a text reader, textpad, notepad, etc.. sometimes the file type is listed in a readable format. Nothing opens it into readable text. The person I got it from has suggested WinComander, but I could not find it in multiple searches. I also searched for WinCommander with no results. 0 Dark Reaper Posted August 30, 2005 Share Posted August 30, 2005 .cbr and .cbz are filetypes. They are meant for e-books. To open them, just use any unzipping program. 7zip or Winrar works. Windows (AFAIK) can only figure out what a file is based on its extension not the data contained inside. In Linux/Unix/MacOSX (someone should port it to Windows -- if it hasn't been done already) there is a 'file' utility that reads a 'magic file'. It examines the data of the file instead of the file extension. If it was used it would have only taken seconds to figure out that the file in question is a RAR file. 0 Dragonreaper Posted July 27, 2009 Share Posted July 27, 2009 ok, so i had this problem to. it looked like a little piece of paper that nothing could open, or open properly.. here is what i did. zipped up the file (turned it into the stack of books, just right click it and click on "add to archive" that has the books next to it. in the Archive name, click browse. then go to where you want to put it and click open or ok, wich ever is listed. for me its open. then go down and hit ok) once that is done. go to where you zipped the file. right click on the stack of books and choose OPEN. DO NOT click extract files. a window will come up with that same piece of paper. you are NOT to extract this. instead you right click the piece of paper and go down to "View File" wich will make another window come up with a folder in it. this folder you can extract. it is the stuff you are wanting. when you extract this, your normal programs you know and love will open all these por.. i mean pics up =P. i hope this was helpfull and yes, every 2 years this thread is revived. *grins evily* i made an account not only to give step by step info on how i did it, but also to revive this thread.
