FatCat Posted May 10, 2003 Share Posted May 10, 2003 Server freezes all the time for me no matter what I do! , wether it be watching a movie, downloading a file and so on, it never happened before but now it happens all the time, is there a scanner for 2003 thats good in finding error, and what are my options.. alien2xx Posted May 10, 2003 Share Posted May 10, 2003 If it mostly happens when you are using your NIC... it's possible that it's your problem... it happened to me, I had a lot of freezes.. like every 20-30 minutes and I found out that it happens when I am using the NIC for download, copying files to another PC, edonkey or games over the net. This problem is well known on some Linksys, Netgear and some 3Com NIC's... it takes the same IRQ that other divice uses but the OS (XP and 2003) does not shows it as a conflict, just as a shared IRQ, THis problem began after 6 months of use, I change the NIC and then I had no more problems/freezes for 3 months now. Just a suggestion, btw, I use a Gigafast NIC with XP now (with Realtek chip). good luck, alien2xx ;) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
