Why Did Microsoft Call Me?!?!?!?

Recommended Posts

Umm, Microsoft just called my house phone about 10 minutes ago, asking for me. Why would they call for me? I haven't had a support conversation with them for a few months now. Is this about the Free TechNet thing that Neowin told us to do??

Anyone else got a call from the big MS??

Edit: Nevermind, they never called me back. Must have been a survey or something. No need to reply to me unless you got some funny Microsoft tech support stories!

It's probably to do a survey or something.

It better be. I haven't bittorrented anything. Idk, it just seems wierd that they called me out of the blue. They're supposed to call back soon, I wasn't home before. I guess I'll find out soon!

HAHA. unless they have tracked you down for being a pirate ;)

Nope, never bittorrented anything! Well except for Win7 beta, but then I got the official RC when it came out ;)

And as I said above, they're gonna call me back real soon, I wasn't home before.

I got a call from them once to Renew My TechNet Plus thing, which I already did but they called anyway, lol.

They want to know what desktop image you have so they can download it like the neowin post your desktop thread??

Or maybe Bill Gates is going to come and arrest you for Bittorrenting :o

Welll, they haven't called back yet, and that was 30 minutes ago! Sounds like it was probably a Support follow-up and they didn't care enough to call back.

So no one else got a call about the Free TechNet thing, right? It wasn't our faults anyways, it was those bloggers and Neowin authors that told us "OH hey! Free TechNet!".

I wouldn't worry about it... as a matter of fact, you should have answered. maybe they want to sign you up for a survey or something.

It might be related to business products if you are listed as the primary buyer for tech products at your company. It might just be a survey though, we get those from time to time.

I always freak out also thinking "omg what did we do!?" when I see it on caller ID, lol

I get calls about re-upping my technet all the time, and I haven't had a technet in about 2yrs.

And that right there is the cornerstone of what Linux and the other open/ free software projects are all about.

They simply want to invite you over for cake and tea.

Ok, well they never called me back. I was just thinking it might be about the "Free TechNet" thing, and no, I wasn't the one that downloaded 300 keys for Vista, lol. Well I guess it was just a survey. But it would be nice if they invited me over for tea, lol. I guess that's all!

What are you talking about? Linux and free/open software will NEVER EVER call you with a survey?

Microsoft is calling just to see if you need some software upgrades and try to earn additional software business. It is not about what you might have done wrong. If you did something wrong they wouldn't be calling you. :)
