Managed to get "Heat in the Pipe" in 31 minutes.. except.. I accidentally had mythic on, so might be able to shave that off a bit in the future. For anyone that wants (or needs to) get all firefight related achievements (excluding 15k from MM) you can grab this gametype: http://www.bungie.net/Stats/Reach/FileDetails.aspx?fid=182262&player=iLL%20Cupcakes.

I set it up so that elites will always spawn, no drop pods and your first load-out is set to use needler with jetpack. Achievements you can get:

  • A Spoonful of Blamite - Killed 10 enemies in Firefight or Campaign with a supercombine explosion without dying.
  • Lucky M - Earned a Triple Kill while Jetpacking in Campaign, Firefight or Matchmaking.
  • Crowd Control - Earned a Killionaire medal in Firefight.
  • Firestarter - Scored 50,000 points in a Firefight game.
  • Blaze of Glory - Scored 200,000 points in a Firefight game.
  • Heat in the Pipe - Scored 1,000,000 points in a Firefight game.
  • Game, Set, Match - Completed a Firefight set on Legendary without dying.

There are a couple others you can get in Firefight too but chances are you might have gotten them from campaign (kill 10 enemies with DMR and kill 10 enemies with M6G pistol.)

Same thoughts as me really, even the thing about what happens to Noble 6. I don't really see how so many reviews are heaping so much praise on the story.

Just read about no co-op campaign for those with the new 4gb slim, ouch..... Looks good though :)

Ouch, really? That sucks.

How on earth is 4GB not enough space? emot-iiam.gif

It's Halo.

Apparently it's not a space issue, it's a "you're using a flash drive, not a hard drive" issue.

Here's my beef. I really expected Noble 6 to be master chief. The only one who survives and becomes master chief. Actually I wouldn't mind the way it ended for the whole Spartan team if we at least saw how Master Chief got into the whole thing. I really expected Reach to end where Halo begins and we see how Master Chief looks like in this new engine. I would be up cheering if I saw him at the end of this game.

Master Cheif is John 117 or somethign like that and from what i understand he was at reach during testing/training but wasnt mission ready till after

Well finally got the game today.. played it through in one sitting.. from 1pm to right now (so about 7 hours on normal). Even on normal this is probably the only Halo that was challenging. Overall it wasn't a bad game but there aren't any real twists or turns. What we knew happened.

Overall the game ended and I was really disappointed at the ending.

But no.. it ended so plainly. Nothing. No bang, no master chief, nothing. Kortana is on board of Pillar of Autumn and that's it.

To be honest, what was the whole point of Kortana saying how she chose Noble 6. Chose for what? Wasn't that the thing about master chief. Kortana chose him. So natural assumption was that Noble 6 ends up being master chief.

Whatever the case, i really expected to see master chief and how he gets into the events of Halo 1.

I was really disappointing. Campaign felt more like preparation for Firefight than story based thing and homage to previous Halo games.

While I haven't played the game and don't mind the spoilers, we already knew what Master Chief was tasked with during the fall of Reach, so it is well known he wouldn't have been Noble 6.

If you don't feel the same way about the story that's fine, it's the same with any game or movie or book. But if the majority do, then it stands to reason it's overall good. Saying "it's halo" means jack, it's not like slapping a well known brand name on something with a crappy story can save it, case in point, FF13. Or a long list of big name movies that also have weak stories that aren't worth much.

Apparently it's not a space issue, it's a "you're using a flash drive, not a hard drive" issue.

This does seem a problem with a few games, I was a bit annoyed as I bought an Arcade and was using a 16Gb flash drive, only to find out some games didn't recognise it as a storage medium. I ended up buy a second hand hard drive :-/

Yep, guess it's another way for MS to push the drives though.

Halo always needed HDD for co-op play (Halo 3 and ODST have same requirement). It's nothing new.

Someone already tested the game and didn't like it:

That vid was funny to watch.

Cleary does not know how the game works etc, but still funny to watch.

And what gets me is the amount of people hung up on Graphics. Always complaining etc, to me Gameplay is probably most of what I want form a game.

So I just finished campaign solo on Normal (first run ~8 hrs) and was a bit underwhelmed by the story. I didn't find it as engrossing as Halo 1-3 and will rate it on the same scale as ODST.

The game play on the other hand is top notch and even on Normal I was surprised by the enemy AI (friendlies are as dumb as ever). I love how the sniper and DMR feel and other weapons seemed to be improved as well.

Few noticeable graphical glitches but nothing as bad as Dirty Larry mentioned. I noticed frame rate issue in the first cut scene itself. The forge world phasing seemed to have introduced few campaign bugs, I could move boxes in dead people and they would phase just as in Forge!

My biggest disappointment is probably music and over all audio quality, couple of times I couldn't understand dialogs.

Also I like how bungie completely closed it, leaving no way for Microsoft to put out sequels on a bungie game without bungie.

For those of you wanting Heat in the Pipe. Just do whatever has said (Invincible, Unlimited Ammo w/o reloading) and turn skulls on for all three rounds. But also, go in and where it says Sqaud: Random, change it to Ordered (which will be selections below you. Fill it up with the top notch Elite, Hunter, and Brute (lowest points) teams and you'll easily be pulling in around 1.5k points for one kill. Took me 45 minutes, to do the full 1mill this way. I also, changed my loadout to rocket default and just spamm'd that on Corvette. I also turned off dropship so they would come faster and through doors, where I could shoot a few rockets to take 'em out quickly. Shouldn't get past the 3rd set (maybe 4th).

Nice tip, wish I had known that before lol :)

only just started it, but the MP is better than ever with the new stuff they added. That's the crux of the thing, the single player isn't as epic as i hoped for so far, less so than Halo 3 and ODST, which i loved. The improved visuals are a boon, no doubt, and for the revamped online on its own this is more than worse the price of admission.

Microsoft fixing HDD requirement for Xbox 360 S 4gb model:

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2010-09-15-ms-working-to-resolve-reach-co-op-issue

Microsoft has reassured Halo: Reach fans that it's trying to fix an issue that prevents 4GB Xbox 360 owners from playing Reach's campaign cooperatively, Eurogamer has been told.

Eurogamer was contacted by a number of Halo: Reach owners about the issue this morning.

Owners of the 4GB Xbox 360 (that 4GB is internal memory) who try to join a co-op campaign are greeted by this message: "One or more players do not have the hard drive required for this game type."

Microsoft's official Halo: Reach FAQ reads:

Q1: The error "One or more players do not have an Xbox 360 Hard Drive. An Xbox 360 Hard Drive is required to play co-op on Xbox LIVE or system link" occurs when I try to play. Why?

A1: One or more players do not have a certified Xbox 360 hard drive attached to their Xbox 360 console. Some multiplayer aspects of Halo: Reach require an Xbox 360 certified hard drive.

Online reports suggest USB memory sticks do not fill in for the absent storage. Halo 3: ODST suffered a similar limitation.

With Microsoft's costly ?80 hard drive not on sale till later this month (it's out now in the US), some UK Halo: Reach owners are currently unable to access one of the game's most compelling features.

This morning Microsoft insisted the limitation is "temporary", but could not say when it will be fixed.

A Microsoft spokesperson told Eurogamer: "We are aware of the issue and are quickly working to resolve it."

According to Nukezilla, the problem only affects the new slim 4GB Xbox 360, and standard multiplayer remains unaffected.

Halo: Reach trumps Halo 3

Bungie has tweeted that Halo: Reach is already smashing Halo 3's records.

"Reach already surpassed the all-time highest record for Halo 3 concurrent unique users on LIVE. Woot!" read the tweet.

Which means Halo: Reach is well on its way to top of Major Nelson's Live Activity charts and in a strong position to make a run at becoming the biggest-selling 360 game of all time. As we reported yesterday, Ladbrokes is offering 5/6 odds on that being the case.

has anyone else tried invasion yet? it reminds me quite a lot of unreal tournament's assault mode. it's great fun.

Hmmm Really? I LOVED that mode in UT, so although I was already looking forward to checking it, this really makes me want to check it out now.

Seconded. I'm not playing MP until I get past the SP, but that sounds awesome.

I bought the game yesterday on my way home from work. I played through the first 9 chapters on the campaign. So far it's a lot of fun. And, it feels significantly harder than previous Halo games. I'm playing on Normal, and Hunters take forever to put down. Even grunts are a pain sometimes. Sadly, I will never be able to get some of the achievements. But, other than that I'm a happy camper.

I died several times trying this, but is it possible to assassinate a Hunter?

I agree with you on most aspects, but I don't agree on the music. I loved the music, which is really rare for a video game.

Random, but I think one of the things that impresses me so much about Reach is the atmosphere. The atmosphere in the previous Halo games were all absolute crap. The map designs were so bland -- inside buildings, there was literally nothing except a button on a wall and an elevator (in most). The buildings in this actually seem like they were inhabited, and most have a really unique design. It kinda reminded me of Half-Life 2 in that regard.

So, kudos to Bungie for taking what I've long considered one of the weakest aspects of Halo and making it into one of the best.

I've only been able to kill Hunters in 2 ways - unmounting a plasma turret or several headshots from the semi-automatic rifle.

Tried using shotguns and assault rifle but you get melee'd or run out of ammo :/

The game sorta dictates your options by limiting the types of gun you're likely to have available before you face a hunter which kinda sucks.
