Windows Live Wave 4 drops XP support

Recommended Posts

The leaked Windows Live Wave 4 installer refuses to install on Windows XP SP3. IE9 and now Windows Live. Guess why their commercial products like Office 2010, Visual Studio 2010 and Expression Studio 3.0 continue to run?

These are "betas" so a silly comment really. It cannot be said they're dropping support for anything until the final version is out.

This is true one of the previous Beta tests was "Vista only" Until it came out and there was an XP version as well. Perhaps they simply only wanted to release some of the code such as the Vista, Win7 version and at a later date (RTW) put out the XP edition. However, there is no proof that this is going to take place until the final RTW however, we can hope.

Pidgin, Miranda, Trillian all still work in Windows XP

Good. It's high time XP is ditched.

+1

They just cannot keep supporting software forever.

Not that XP users would be missing out on much as besides ribbon UI and very minor and useless changes, I don't see any new features at all. In fact ribbon in some apps like Photo Gallery is annoying as "Back to Gallery/View Gallery" button is not even viewable on all ribbon tabs.

Well, Windows Live Movie Maker is not available for Windows XP users. I guess that any other WL app with ribbon will not work. Only Messenger and Sync don't have it so this is end of Windows Live Essentials for XP users.
