Bing iPhone App updated adds Google Goggles-like functionality

Now you can take a picture of any cover of a book, music album, video game, barcode the bing app will give you results of your item.

When you take a picture in the Bing Camera app the Bing app searches for matches in its bing shopping database and returns the result to you. I tried this out myself on a game, a CD album, and a book and got a result. The barcode scanner also works great. In addition you can check your twitter and facebook feeds through the app. Maybe I didn't see it before but shopping is on the app. If you connect the app to facebook your twitter feeds and your facebook friends will pop up in your search results if it is relevant.

From the app store

-Camera scanning of barcodes and cover art

-Connect with Facebook and Twitter accounts to set combined status updates.

-Show results from your social network when you search. Share search results on Facebook, Twitter, and through email.

-Expanded Shopping section with reviews ratings and prices.

Additional clips and trailers in the Movies section.

Yeah, I'm hoping all of this functionality gets integrated into Windows Phone 7, because as of now the Windows Phone 7 bing doesn't have the same functionality. Same with the turn by turn directions in the Winmo 6.5 app. In fact, the new Bing Mobile website doesn't even work with WP7 because the IE in WP7 does not support HTML5.

This functionality has been on the iPhone long before in the Amazon App, RedLaser and ShopSavvy. Goggles goes one step beyond by recognising faces, figures and monuments

Exactly. This isn't even close to Google Goggles. At all.
