Master1
Virtual DJ. I've tried it, its good but are there any other suggestions ?
Brian Veteran Posted July 23, 2010 Veteran Share Posted July 23, 2010 Master1, depends on what you want to do. If you're gonna use time-coded vinyl, use Serato... I use Traktor if I'm going to use CDs and some controllers, and then VirtualDJ for others. If I'm going to put together a loop based set prechopped from songs, I'll use Ableton. Well I don't think I'm going to be using vinyl, mainly CD's and MP3's, is there a program that does all or you need separate ones ?
MR_Candyman
Traktor. I've used them all, and Traktor is by far the best for what you're looking to do.

They'll do it all but if you're gonna use Timecoded ANYTHING, stick to Serato/Traktor. Serato only works with their own hardware + timecodes though. Traktor can use various, and has controller support, and VDJ has a simple interface for when you want to take it easy/incorporate extras. Try out the Virtual DJ or Traktor demos. MR_Candyman
I will look for the Traktor demo now How about ClubDJ ProVJ ? Don't waste your time. It was popular for about 6 months, until it kept crashing and ruining people's sets. It never was the best to use either. Get Traktor and a mixer. Hook channel 1 to front outputs from your computer and channel 2 from rear outputs. I would then recommend learning how to mix yourself. The auto-mix does an ok job if your tracks are similar enough, but you really do want to learn how to mix properly

I find the cleanest mixes to be had with Traktor (or Serato, but it's not in the discussion anymore) with Virtual DJ I've found I literally need to alter MY timing to let the software catch on. sic133
I can also recommend MixMeister Fusion, has a lot of tools and functionality for mixes and very nice and intuitive UI http://www.mixmeister.com/

Brian Veteran Posted July 23, 2010 Veteran Share Posted July 23, 2010 master1, mixmeister fusion is more for premixing than it is for live sets.. sure you CAN use it, but I mean, you're not actually going to be doing any mixing yourself.

Master1
Ok for some reason Traktor does not seem to like computer as it crashes randomly, none of the other DJ software trials would crash, any ideas why ?
MR_Candyman
Is it crashing after a half hour? Because the trial has a half hour time limit and some people report it just crashing instead of popping up it's message

MR_Candyman
if you're using the internal audio, just try to install ASIO4ALL drivers and see if it make a difference when you choose them in Traktor. This is all I've been able to find so far for this problem, but I'll keep looking. Anything specific that you're doing when it crashes?
game_over
Traktor or Deckadance http://deckadance.image-line.com/

Well at first it was having trouble loading the songs, then when it was able to play it, it was still giving problems Traktor or Deckadance http://deckadance.image-line.com/ I will also look into Deckadance, thanks for the suggestion
Eric Veteran Posted July 23, 2010 Veteran Share Posted July 23, 2010 I was going to suggest Traktor as well but I see it's already covered. It's great, although it's a bit pricey.
fusi0n
I used VirtualDJ if I am mixing a small gig or Serato with 2x Pioneer CDJ 1000 MKII + TimeCode when I am doing clubs which is most of my DJing.
Master1
i like your post about DJ software. I like DJ party, Music is my Favorite hobby. There are lots of DJ Software in market like TRAKTOR, Virtual DJ, MixMeister Fusion, MixVibes, PCDJ Dex, OtsAV DJ, UltraMixer, proVJ5, CUE, MegaSeg etc. According to me MegaSeg is best DJ Software made by Mac. We all know how dedicated Mac users are to their software and hardware products. MegaSeg features the simplistic dual-deck interface design found in most DJ software programs, providing a great deal of space for track queues below each deck. MS5 provides a variety of in/out put options. Thanks for the suggestion, does megaseg have a windows version also ? I was going to suggest Traktor as well but I see it's already covered. It's great, although it's a bit pricey. Well the thing with Traktor was also the UI, idk maybe it was the Pro version that I downloaded as a demo, but it seemed intimidating ( if that is the right word for this case )
Panacik
Again Traktor, but I also used to use Mixvibes.
