pawa
I used to have my PC connected directly to the TV via a usual VGA-cable. However, now that i moved the PC to another room, i cant do it that way anymore, so i am searching for a way to clone my PC-screen over to the TV over LAN. Do i really have to use a second pc near the TV to act as a "gateway" or is there a simple solution for this?
Colin-uk Veteran Posted September 12, 2010 Veteran Share Posted September 12, 2010 the alternative is to use something like a video balun that can convert a cat5 signal to VGA. but theyre pretty expensive. I'd probably go the PC route, myself.
DigitalE
What do you use it for? If you just watch videos and listen to music or whatever, you'd probably be best off getting a network streaming box like a Roku or AppleTV. Or you could get a nice long VGA cable. Crisp
Xbox or PS3 gets my vote.

Dashel
Lots of ways to stream content to the TV. Or get a CAT5 based KVM if you need control.

Sorry, forgot to say that: I only need to transport video, no audio. I was just looking at VGA over CAT5 solutions and I must say these seem quite expensive. Or should I be looking for something else? http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=385122&C=SO&U=strat15 Something like that? Something like that over wired LAN is probably what I am looking for.
