Neowin's official T-Shirt contest

Neowin has for a long time had staff t-shirts. Unfortunately they have for a long time not been available to members and even when they were, the designs were not great. The design of a shirt is what sells a shirt and if the design is bad, you aren't going to waste your hard earned money on it.

Neowin is a community full of bucket loads of talent which is why we (staff) have decided to let you guys promote your favourite forum without looking like a complete dork (unless of course you want to). This is where this brand new contest comes into play. For two weeks we will be running a t-shirt design contest in which the winner will receive $25, a free copy of their t-shirt and their design printed for other neowinians to purchase. The runner up will have the choice as to whether they want their design printed for neowinians to purchase and wear alongside the overall winning design.

The requirements are as follows:

  • You must incorporate the Neowin logo which can be found in a attachment to this post. (Note. there is two versions)
  • You must have the website URL somewhere on the t-shirt (Neowin.net)
  • If participating, you must enter your design before the deadline. (25 November)
  • You understand that if your design is chosen to be the winner, you may have to make slight changes.
  • There isn't a minimum size as of such but we expect designers to use some common sense when it comes to size. As it's going to be printed, a design that's 200x200 pixels won't be large enough.
  • It's preferable the design is in .PNG format.

Any submissions become property of Neowin.

Disclaimer: Neowin reserve the right to modify the design

Once you have finished your design, PM it to Tom. This thread is for any questions and queries.

The rest is up to you! Good luck to everybody and we look forward to seeing the outcomes!

1.) What's the minimum resolution needed for this?

2.) What file format do you want it in?

3.) Can I get a vector of the logo and/or a PNG version about 10x's the size of the logo you linked?

4.) Should we design for a white or black t-shirt?

Danke shon!

2.) Preferably .PNG

3.) Edit: I have no attached one :)

4.) That it totally up to you! If you feel your design suits best for white, it will be printed on white. If it best suits black, it will be printed on black. :)

Thank you for asking questions I forgot to add previously.

If it's going to be printed professionally, shouldn't it be in 300DPI .tiff CMYK or something? Just wondering... Never done t-shirts, but most printers I've worked with use something along those lines.

Cool idea btw!

This is the maximum real-life printing size of the image you provided if we follow printing guidelines and without any loss of quality. Please provide us with a vector image or a higher res *.png at least.

@Grayski

Bottom right is right up my street thumbs_up.gif

Think it's actually 3 designs, with the bottom right being the back for all of them? Unless I'm mistaken.

If that's the case then i'd like the bottom right one to be the front of the t-shirt. that's where my money would go :)

Updated the picture -- Moved the content on the back up a bit thanks to Nicholas-c's suggestion and just added [ FRONT D ] to back to show it as an option as a front as well :)

Thanks for the positive feedback guys, honestly wasn't expecting it.

I'm thinking of a logo with paint drips around it, something simple and still different from the plain old logo. I'd make a mockup but sadly I'm terrible at design, I'd love someone here to give it a shot.
