He keeps insisting that FF7 for the Playstation 1 is the greatest game of all-time. I have not played it so I can't comment. Please help us out here to settle this once and for all. treemonster Posted December 20, 2010 Share Posted December 20, 2010 no it is not. the best thing about ff7 is that at the time, it had killer graphics. otherwise as far as ff goes ff6 was the best one. best game of all time is probably half life 2, in terms of singleplayer. half life 1 on other merits. wow is the most successful/profitable game of all time, cs is probably the most hardcore/best online fps game of all time, sc1 is probably the most hardcore/best online rts of all time. tony hawk pro skater 2 was probably the best extreme sports game of all time. idk, it all depends on your criteria. and there are going to be games that are better in different genres and ways than others. there is no one single game that's the best in every way. and if there was some kind of mutant fps rpg rts world map turn based strat driving flight space sim mmo it would probably suck so bad and do everything in it so badly no one would play it. I like RPG games, but I never completed FF7 because I got bored with it, I honestly like Kingdom Hearts better than any of the FF games I played. Hell, it's not even the best JRPG of that console generation in my humble opinion. But like Corris said, the whole debate of which game is the "best of all time" completely comes down to opinion. Which game " of all time " should. ATM that is still held by Commander Keen, Wolfenstein 3D, and Doom. Personally I loved the game and it does rank up there as one of the best. In addition this was the 1st time they killed a main character as part of the plot in a Final Fantasy series. I think it's a great game, but don't think it's the "greatest" game. As you've seen above some believe FF6 is the best FF of all time but that is just opinion as well. Ocarina of Time? Opinion.
