I am planning to make a htpc setup in my living room. I have a good pc but I can't decide on speakers - I need something thats not too expensive but has long cables and if possible ability to extend that cable somehow.
I'm not sure if i should go with something like logitech x-540 (not sure if those cables can be extended) or try to find some cheaper home theater with optical input and by some dedicated sound card (my mb doesnt have optical output) like asus xonar which has optic output. I am not sure if 5.1 sound can be outputted to home theater via spdif connector or is there some other way (maybe convert those 3 analog cables with 3.5mm -> RCA).
pls help
