Resume Writing Service

Recommended Posts

Anyone used a resume writing service? I am wondering how it turned out and what you spent? I am considering using one but I just don't know where to start?

Me, free. Having someone write your resume is a terrible idea. The last interview I had, all the questions about my experience came from them reading the resume. That doesn't usually happen, but I certainly wouldn't want to be in a position of having to answer questions about something I didn't write.

That said, if you have a good reason to have someone write it (English isn't your first language, trying to get into a field you have the skills for but not the experience), try Craigslist. It depends on the field you're applying for, but you can usually find someone who works in the field who will review/revise it for cheap money.

OK, I have a killer CV and here's how:

1) Write your CV yourself.

2) Find a friend of friend who whorks in a respected HR position

3) Go talk to them

4) Re-write your CV and repeat if possible

Remember, they don't "read" CVs, they quickly gloss over them at first. So make important information stand out. But also use it as a way to make them want to ask more - don't go into TOO much detail, but also sell yourself.

I have, and quite happy with em, mostly they've done emphasis and regrouping and rewriting to stand out, nothing that i did not have on my resume but looks more polished, logical and stands out more. I think it is worth it as it boosts my confidence and can articulate better by skills and attributes but then again, i guess it depends on the person
