arrrgh
Looks like I need a firmware update. EDIT: OCZ site says 1.24 is latest :s 1.24 is the latest firmware, there are 1.27 and 1.28 but these only add support for new memory types and do not contain other fixes/improvements. Setnom
Maybe someone can explain something to me. I used to have in Windows 7 (x64) a score index of 7.3 on the SSD (primary disk). But for a while now that score lowered to 5.9. Does anyone know how this could have happened and what can I do to fix it?
Lingwo
?? 76% OCZ Vertex 2, Since Mon 23rd August 2010 Firmware 1.11 going to try newer, should i worry about losing data ? OCZ Tools guide warns you and advises you to backup your drive just in case, even though it shouldn't corrupt your data. Also it specifies if this is your OS drive then you shouldn't do it. Although i have read that is possible though. I'm just backing up my drive now and going to upgrade. My Firmware is really low.

But for a while now that score lowered to 5.9. Does anyone know how this could have happened and what can I do to fix it? wei is just retarded, try re running the test. For example I just bought my new ssd, installed windows and drivers and went to run wei. First it refused to bench my disk at all and just failed for no reason, then I rebooted and it ran and gave my graphics a 1.0 so I couldnt enable aero, then i ran it again and graphics score was fixed and my ssd went from 7.7 to 5.9, THEN I ran it again and my ssd went back to 7.7. Also the write speed of ssd's does degrade a bit over time I believe, but you should probably still be getting a higher score.

Try Intel ACHI / AMD ACHI drivers depending what chipset you have, mine scores 7.7 everytime with that before it was 5.9 to 7.3 mix also. But yeah WEI is wierd sometimes too. Thank you for your inputs. I tried re-running the tests a lot of times, even on a brand new W7 installation. Still have the same 5.9 score. I also have the Intel ACHI drivers installed (using an Asus P6T-SE motherboard), and also set on AHCI mode in the BIOS...
Hollow.Droid
Well that sucks! Surely a drive shouldn't be this poorly after just 18 months? Oh and as a side note, it still works perfectly. If I hadn't run that program I'd have thought it was in perfect condition :/ Oh and here are CrystalMark scores: Doesn't seem too bad for a drive probably considered 'Old' in SSD terms, never mind the health :p
