Gingerblur: Droid X Gets Previewed With Android 2.3 And MOTO BLUR

Recommended Posts

Right now if you?re running an unrooted Droid X then you?re sitting on Froyo - Android 2.2. But if you?re p3droid over at MyDroidWorld then you?ve already got Android 2.3 Gingerbread running on you Droid X featuring the most recent rendition of Motorola Blur.

First of all, pardon the animated GIF that makes me want to tear my eyes out- I?m only passing along the torture I endured. One member joked by renaming the combo of Gingerbread and BLUR: Gingerblur. Not only do I like the name, I?m thinking it?ll be a pretty tasty experience altogether.

I think we can all agree that MOTO BLUR has come a long way since it?s first days on the CLIQ. It?s still not perfect but it?s much improved and while it has its fair share of haters, it?s also got it?s fair share of supporters. In all honesty, it really just depends on your personal preferences. And personally, I?m eager to get this onto my own Droid X. The OP says this is NOT a port and will be releasing it shortly? we?ll keep you posted.

Motoblur, ugliest Android UI made

I'd take it over Timescape any day. But yeah, Blur is pretty much garbage too. I think I'm going to get the Atrix, and first priorities will be an AOSP build.

Even with a locked bootloader?

Yeah, you can't replace the kernal but you can replace most of the system, which means you can still remove motoblur apps and replace them with AOSP apps, which is what my current rom does.

Depending on the updates for the phone (speed and what not) with 2.3, I may SBF back to the official 2.2 then update to 2.3 once it comes out, if it doesn't impress me that much I'll wait till Rubix gets his 2.3 builds out.
