Danny1221 Posted February 8, 2011 Share Posted February 8, 2011 Hi, I'm new to the android OS based phones and was just reading about people rooting phones and phone not automatically receiving updates from android so if I buy an android phone (HTC Wildfire) will I have to worry about manually updating android? Thanks for the help on my topics btw its also pretty cool how your from Middlesbrough, I'm form Thornaby lol and in Middlesbrough a lot of the time. ew2x4 Posted February 8, 2011 Share Posted February 8, 2011 When you root your phone, what that means is you are given root level access. Which means you can completely modify/improve/destroy your phone. Some apps are root only, because they need access that the stock OS does not allow. This also means you're able to install custom roms. Since rooted users modify the OS itself, the carrier updates will not work, usually. Yeah just manually check for updates when you get it so its fully updated right away then just let it notify you from then on.
