I'd love to see a law suit filed against them by every single person who purchased the movie (WTF there's no such word as "movie" ? Get real, Neowin ! Oh great, there's also no such word as "Neowin" !) legally, bringing the total amount of money they ought to pay their customers (for lack of a better word..) to 274,000,000 USD. Yeah, that would be freaking awesome, just seeing the official documents of such a lawsuit would make me a happy man.

LMAO

Oh...you're being serious. $10 says you didn't even bother to learn how usenet even works. Another $10 says you probably have no idea what NZB files are. Tack on another $10 simply because only the uneducated bother with passworded files.

You can pay me through PayPal. I don't accept money orders.

Obviously, you missed the point. So your smartass remark is actually pretty sad.

There's no "learning curve" to Torrents. You tell it what you want, you download it, you've got it.

Period.

The fact that you have to "learn" how to use Usenet, figure out what NZB files are, ON TOP

of paying some monthly fee for service... that's stupid. So keep your... what was it? $30 bet?

Torrents work just as fast as any download from newsgroups and I've never had to deal with

password protected files or some of the other horror stories I've read about like "accidentally"

downloading child porn and the like. Nor do I have to pay a monthly fee.

Which, by the way, really gets to me. If you're going to PAY MONEY to be part of some

underground, "secure" pirating group... why the hell not just pay that money and be

legit? Yea... your snarky comment was asinine.

Oh, by "secret" I mean anonymous. What with the hype of newsgroups allowing SSH

connections and all. But, here's the kicker... if you're paying a monthly fee, doesn't

that mean you are leaving a trace of your real identity? Just a thought.

While I have made it clear in this thread that I favor torrents, there is a learning curve for torrents as well when it comes to determining what search sites are useful, how to find a good seeded torrent, and (the toughest part) how to determine the uploaded files are clean. The problem of fake or password protected files is there for both torrents and usenet. It took me a while when I started, and I have taught friends how to find do the same. While there is a learning curve for both mediums, it is not overly complicated for either medium.

But you share my views on the paying part. Spending money somewhat defeats the purpose of file downloading to begin with.

For a torrent with lots of seeders and few leechers, maybe. For the other 99% of torrents out there, not a chance in hell that they would be faster than getting something from usenet.

WTF are you talking about? Learn what NZB files are? It's one application and a server, how's that hard to understand?

ok for you guys overseas, how about using itunes? zune?

Stupidly expensive for films from itunes in the UK. I'm sorry why does it cost more to watch it at home than it does at the cinema ? I would maybe use a monthly service but needs to be more integrated with normal tv's but there is Google tv.
