Report: Mayweather/Pacquiao fight should be finalized in the 'next couple of days'

 

The super fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao is on the verge of being finalized.

Top Rank fight promoter Bob Arum told George Willis of the New York Post on Friday that the fight is in the final stages of being made a reality.

"Everybody is doing the right thing," Arum said. "We're looking to complete the paperwork. Everything is moving in the right direction. Hopefully, the next couple of days it will get done.

Khan beat Chris Algieri as expected and looks like he's the next (and last) fight for Floyd. But Ramadan will probably get in the way.

I don't think Floyd will choose him tbh and he's already said Ramadan can be done earlier or something

Had a rare great night for British boxing that sadly ended on a sour note, thanks to dodgy judges.

 

Scott Quigg thrashed Kiko Martinez in two rounds in Manchester to retain the WBA world super-bantamweight title.

 

Carl Frampton made a fantastic comeback across the pond in El Paso after getting floored twice in the first round against Alejandro Gonzalez Jr. and convincingly retained his IBF world super-bantamweight title; surely it's gonna be the Battle of Britain next with Quigg and Frampton fighting each other.

 

And back in Manchester, we should have had a new WBA world lightweight champion. Anthony Crolla got robbed by two of the judges against Darleys Perez (114-113, 116-111, 113-113). ###### was that fight a draw. :angry: Perez threw so many low blows, he was extremely lucky to only get deducted two points; if the ref was on the ball, he'd have been DQ'ed. The sooner the rematch happens, the better.

Yeah Crolla was robbed big time! :( Apparently he could get it in September but Perez has another mandatory.

Floyd Mayweather is officially set to square off with Andre Berto in September ... TMZ Sports has confirmed.

 

The two have been in talks for weeks ... but now we're told from both camps that it's a done deal and the two will fight in Vegas on September 12th.

We spoke with Berto who tells us, "It's a pleasure and honor to be in this position and I'm looking forward to capitalizing on every moment of it".

As we previously reported, there's some bad blood between the two -- with Berto claiming Mayweather had been crank calling his phone ... and he believes it was all over a woman.

Mayweather is 48-0. Berto is 33-3.

Berto has't fought anyone remotely near the top. He's going to get mauled.

This is going the distance with Mayweather easily winning by points. As far as the quality of the fight is concerned, it's going to be sparring quality at very best. Mayweather has always wanted to give Berto a shot, probably because they're friends down under or something. He was first trying to fight him in 2011 but Berto came short against Ortiz. Then again he tried in 2013 and Berto came short against Guerrero. Now he just went for it out of the blue. To be fair though, he doesn't really have many options out there and Khan is definitely not one of them. At least not after running his mouth nonstop yet again.

Fury wins!!

I'm still in shock. :omg: Even with a (way overdue) point deducted in the 11th for rabbit punches, he still won by at least 3 each time. God, the gloating will be endless, now. And he made it cringeworthy at the end by singing Aerosmith; as I just saw someone on Twitter say, I'd watch another 12 rounds of that horses**t to never have to hear him sing again.

Paging Anthony Joshua, it's time for you to step up! Breeze past Dillian Whyte in a fortnight's time and let's set up the British superfight!

Earlier today me and a mate were both saying we thought Fury would win.  Listening to the fight, and he got a point deducted, I said to my girlfriend that he now needs to knock him out just to get the draw.
