Mozilla Firefox 4.0 - Final

Mozilla Firefox 4 - faster, more secure, easier to use and sporting a new look, this latest Firefox release sets a new standard for web browser innovation. Mozilla Firefox project (formerly Firebird, which was formerly Phoenix) is a redesign of Mozilla's browser component, written using the XUL user interface language and designed to be cross-platform. It is small, fast and easy to use, and offers many advantages over other web browsers, such as the tabbed browsing and the ability to block pop-up windows. Firefox has the most ways to customize your online experience specifically for the way you use the web. There are more than 6,000 Add-ons (little extras that augment Firefox to meet your unique needs) just waiting out there to help you do more, have more fun and be more creative online. Firefox keeps your personal info personal and your online interests away from the bad guys. Simply put, your security is our top priority.

Think I'll wait for 4.5 or something, 4.0 is far too much of a rush job for me. Thanks for heads up though.

So is this confirmed final? Would suck if they found a showstopper bug and delayed it like 2 weeks... I sure hope not. :p

As for it being rushed, I must disagree, at least from what I've seen. Why do you think it's rushed?

Have you tried it? You should definitely give it a go, it's a great step up from 3.x

Does the RC update to this automatically - I know its not a big deal installing it but just wondering

I think my RC2 has auto-updated.

For all you folks running Firefox 4.0 RC2 you 'ARE' using the final. Barring no show stoppers in the next 24hrs Mozilla will declare that Firefox 4.0 is complete. There will be no further updates from RC2 to 'a so called Final'. That is exactly why Mozilla decided not to tag the build with the RC moniker so they wouldn't have to build a 'final' just to change the name. Both RC's were tagged as 4.0.

Does flash work smoothly or is still pretty bad like in the betas? I switched to Chrome because of that issue, but Chrome extensions are worse.

It works great, just make sure Firefox has hardware acceleration enabled.

Another topic about this?

Just downloaded this from the story on the front page.

As I stated in that thread. Will play guinea pig with this thing, again, but it probably won't stay installed very long, as usual!!

Just want to give Mozilla a few more downloads to count!!

I've used Firefox since it was Firebird, but I started trying Chrome a few months ago and for the last week IE9 has been my main browser. After using those Firefox 4 already feels slow and outdated (and ugly). I'm afraid Firefox's time may have come and gone. :(

It works really well indeed. Oh well, this makes it quite difficult to choose between this and google chrome. I miss the omnibar, but adblock plus for FF is much better.

Thanks for your interest in Firefox 4

We aren't quite finished qualifying Firefox 4 yet. You should check out the latest Release Candidate.

When we're all done with Firefox 4 it will show up on Firefox.com.
