Stay Awake

Recommended Posts

Hey,

Just finished this app which stop's external hard drives from sleeping.

You add locations to keep "awake", set the interval at which to write (1-15 minutes) and go.

It supports multiple locations and loading at windows startup.

Once application is launched, it will start in system tray, double click the icon to show main window, add locations and click start.

If you have previously set locations, the application will automatically start writing to those locations upon launch.

It has an update feature, this is accessible through the system tray menu (right click icon > check for updates)

You shouldn't encounter any bugs but if you do, just post here and I'll sort them out.

This program writes settings and drives to plain text files, it writes to registry for startup entries only, these can be removed whenever needed by simply loading the application and deselecting launch at startup.

Because of writing to plain text files, if you run this program from C:\ you will need to run it with admin rights.

Just thought I would let any possible users know this.

:)

I'd suggest writing your settings to the user's local appdata folder as per Microsoft's guidelines. This way, the user won't need administrator privileges.

Thanks Sranshaft, not sure why I didn't think to do that in the first place, I wanted all files local so removal was cleaner but this way is the best.

Zip file updated, data gets stored under AppData so feel free to place exe wherever you wish, all the kinks are removed now.

Everything stays the same as first post.
