+Zlip792 MVC Posted February 21, 2013 MVC Share Posted February 21, 2013 Getting this: ASSERT: Giving up waiting for the tab closing animation to finish (bug 608589) Stack Trace: 0:([object XULElement],[object XULElement]) All the time now. It's said to be, "fixed", but, well, there it is. Anyone else getting said message? This message is making me annoying as well...
vanx
Hmm, is it just me or does release 19.0 starts spiking CPU usage after a while which causes strong lagginess? One half of a core's usage is in the top 3 all the time and CPU usage of the process is 12-13 of a Quad Core machine.

Type in url bar about:config -> hit enter -> confirm Mozilla Security "Bla bla" -> in Filter bar past this text browser.tabs.animate -> double click on search result to switch from true to false-> suppose be solved. I think Your problem is causing some tab extension, in my case that was Tab Utilities, now I use again Tab Mix Plus dev version and my problem is solved once for good ;) +Gary7 1 Share

vanx
It was not for me but maybe I didn't use it long enough. I went to the Firefox 20 Beta In my experience, it was 2-4 hours of usage. All plug-ins up to date, no flash on any page, memory consumption hovering around 700MB.

It is more like triggered by Firefox tab strip snappiness bug fixing. +Gary7 1 Share

In Your case this is kind strange, in my case I was sure that some of addon messed up, any way I've posted this solution as temporary for Users facing problems as Your. I remember from MozillaZine forum a User facing identical problem as Your, in past He have TMP, already uninstalled or disabled, but still problem persist, disabling tabs animation resolve His problem, maybe You have also some old pref in about:config, some rest after tab addon. GRT ;)

Thanks for mentioning it. That said, I'm always enabling the animations again to see if the problem eventually goes away. No luck yet, though again, the bug is labeled as fixed, so I'm not sure what else to report. Regarding Tab Utilities and TMP, I've read other reports that are in line with what you said, but I never installed either. Plus, none of the other addons I actually am using have been mentioned, and according to Zlip792, they probably don't really affect the issue anyway. I've left the telemetry and whatnot enabled, so I guess it's up to the devs now.

I will surely go with it unless FF dev notice and fix it.

Addon Style one InContent UI work is not started, a contributor said that he wanna work on it but after one week. So lets hope a new contributor (first time I thin) will help out FF in this. .stan
was some outside of mozilla, I think university student. So another story of "let's let students work on something which they never get done 100% in time and then let it rot till someone cares"?
bawz
i'd really love to know who this outside person was, i'd believe an actual Mozilla Developer than an " outside " one
Pikey
I've just been fiddling about with Tab Groups and it seems they are not persistent between sessions , is that normal behavior? I don't mean session restore by the way , just normal shutting down and re-starting , not much good if you have to recreate them every time! Pikey
It must have been a corrupt profile! I just made a new one and with some Mozbackup goodness (just to import bookmarksand other stuff .. ) it seems to be working OK now!
