Activating Problems?

Recommended Posts

I have an iPad (1st generation).

It has NOT been jailbroken before and was running iOS 4.3.1. I downloaded the 4.3.3 firmware from the appldnl servers (official Apple servers) and restored it via iTunes as usual. I wanted a nice clean install.

Once it installs and goes to activate, it displays an error saying something along the lines of "There is a problem with this device, we recommend visiting your nearest Apple store etc".

Doesn anyone know if this is an issue with the Apple servers when activating, and has anyone else experience this problem?

Is it possible it was jailbroken, but you just don't know it was? Did you buy it from another country or something? (I had such problems with my boss' iPhone 3GS brought from China)

Nah, i bought it directly from the Apple Store. Have been updating it only through iTunes and I dont see any need to jailbreak it as I mostly just use Safari and Mail.

Try again, should be fine now.

As of last night, an ongoing problem with Apple?s activation servers seems to be leaving many iDevices recently updated or restored to iOS 4.3.3 bricked around the world.

(Update: Many ? but not all ? of the users in the Apple Support Communities are now reporting that the activation servers are back online, and their devices working again.)
