Almost a year later, Disney announced that Depp would be paid $55.5 million to return as Captain Jack Sparrow, realizing that without him the franchise would be "dead and buried."

I love his acting, especially as Jack Sparrow - so if they pay him well, it's good, I guess? Let's just hope he gives some of his money to charities or other good cause

My first thought was...is that it? They are going to make at least triple that in opening weekends or whatever. Money well spent from a logical point of view.

I think he makes a deep emotional compromise with himself by acting in this soap and he deserves every penny he can get from the producers.
