Following in Neowin's very recent footsteps, one of America's biggest newspapers, The New York Times, has updated its online service.

The main features include a re-design of the layout. With a nod to progresses in technology, the site is reworked for users with bigger monitors. The layout also provides better scope for users interested in 'digging' deeper into stories. Also on offer is 'MyTimes', which allows personalised news on the website that interests readers.

The Time's editor wrote that their goal was " to make experiencing The New York Times online simpler and more useful. We hope you conclude that we have done that on the new pages appearing for the first time this month."

Of note, the redesign makes explicit the progress of blogs; along side 'most emailed' and 'most searched' lists is a new addition of 'most blogged'.

In other redesign news, The Inquirer, in apparent homage to its old pals ere, has moved to a three column layout. April's clearly the time to do that spring cleaning after all.
