The Mozilla Corporation have today uploaded the follow-up to their hugely popular web browser, Firefox. Despite not being featured on the Firefox homepage the files have all been uploaded to the Mozilla FTP site.
The Windows installer weighs in at 5568KB, and was uploaded at 0819GMT today. As well as this both Mac and Linux versions have been added.
This updated version is designated for release tomorrow, but avid Firefox users can get their hands on it now.
Download: Firefox 2.0 from releases.mozilla.org
View: Mozilla Firefox Home
Note: Direct FTP link replaced as it was hitting the servers pretty hard.

Also, I wonder when this will be available through the update (currently got 2.0 RC3). And finally, the theme looks good with the Unified Brush theme on Mac OS X!
Edit: Opera just locks up on that page... and a minute later it crashes with the standard XP crash dialog. That "exploit" can't be specific to just Firefox, contrary to what that link says.

FALSE. Opera does not crash. Must be your PC or custom Opera setup.

Thank you

Yes, Thank you! I like my tabs the way they were.
In the end I've uninstalled and gone back to 1.5.0.7 and its all fine.
the file with the real name is 0b till the file completes downloading and prevents another application from creating the same file. It doesn't waste any space.
the part file(s?) remain till the download is completed and they can be assembled into the final complete file, this means you won't get a "<my full filename>" file that is not a full finished download that could ever be mistaken for one as it's 0b till complete.
a good thing imo.

Previous versions also used the .part extension, and when finished downloading, it would remove the .part.
At least could be a way to put it to work the old way.

The RC2 (or 3?) I have installed is supposed to automatically upgrade, right?
Well said. Actually, I've started to like IE7s interface more than I did originally, but one thing is still really annoying - they moved the stop/refresh buttons. Why? Everyone is used to the stop/refresh button(s) being on the left next to the back/forward buttons. They should have taken out the stop button, moved the refresh/go button closer to the address bar and made it just a go button. Then put a refresh/stop button in the style of the forward/back buttons, to their right. Where people expect it!
Why change something for the sake of it?
That's a good point.
Yes there will be further 1.5.0.x releases. The 1.5 branch will be supported with security and stability fixes for the next 6 months, after which it will be retired.
The problem with builds between 1.5.0.0 and 1.5.0.7 is that they physically have no way of offering a major update (ie: to 2.0) - they can only handle minor upgrades. So to get round this new code has been written to allow 1.5 to receive and install major updates, but that code will be in firefox 1.5.0.8 (which at time of writing isn't out yet.)
So users on 1.5 won't get auto-notification of 2.0's release until they're at least of firefox 1.5.0.8, and even then, Mozilla might wait until Firefox 2.0.0.1 is out before flipping the switch to let 1.5 users know that they can update to Firefox 2.
After checking the website, it shows diferent checkums
34cbc9f8ad5d41ad37ab8bea24cb688c ./win32/en-US/Firefox Setup 2.0 RC 3.exe
8458f0417f8a23b82a2076c2fe3a0b09 ./win32/en-US/Firefox Setup 2.0.exe
The installers are different however the product is the same. Check the hash for firefox.exe from RC3 and the final. They are the same. Only the installer is actually different, which makes no real difference once you have installed Firefox.
