Windows Vista Shortcut Overlay Remover, aka FxVisor, allows you to either remove or enable the explorer shortcut overlay arrow that is added to all shortcuts. Currently there is no native way to remove the shortcut overlay arrow or to even customize it in Windows Vista, so we have written the Vista Shortcut Overlay Remover utility to enable you to do just that.

Smaller desktop icons

Left click on icon; hold CTRL then use scroll wheel to change icon size.

I don't want a smaller icon. I want a smaller arrow. Right now in XP you can do that with a registry hack or via utilities like TweakUI.

How about a remover for the damn DWM thing so things like tv apps that require overlay can work again. ha (And yes, just using Classic mode or whatever doesn't help, hardware overlay is still not available!

Right click on that app, go to properties, then go to the compatibility tab, tick "disable desktop composition"

OH FFS PLEASe use proper words when you post stuff on the internet, it makes people understand you, and you don't look like an idiot. there's a reason the english written language isn't made up of single letter words.

So I take it that it's now made up of 3 letter abbreviations like FFS?

What can I say... Just awesome.

Nice

Mind you, there is a way to remove it, just like XP

1. Start regedit.
2. Navigate to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOTlnkfile
3. Delete the IsShortcut registry value.
4. Navigate to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOTpiffile
5. Delete the IsShortcut registry value.

And it did work fine.

Also, most of my XP tweaks worked in Vista, menu delay, no shared docs, unload dlls, hung app timeout, IE max connection to 20.

Going to try and play with some more.

First thought "Who cares?!" 0_0. Are the arrows really that much of a pain? Come on people.

Come to think of it. No. I actually like the default arrow much better than the default in 95-XP. The transparency seems to make it look better.
