Norton Removal Tool is a program that can remove some Norton software from your computer. Norton Removal Tool runs on Windows 2000/XP/Vista. Norton Removal Tool should be used only if you have tried to uninstall the Norton program using Windows Add/Remove Programs and that did not work.

Will Norton Removal Tool work for you?
Norton Removal Tool will remove these--and only these--Norton programs:

* Norton AntiSpam 2004/2005
* Norton AntiVirus 2003 through 2007.2
* Ghost 2003, Ghost Version 9.0 and 10.0
* Norton GoBack 3.1 through 4.2

* Norton Internet Security 2003 through 2007.2

* Norton Password Manager
* Norton Personal Firewall 2003 through 2006
* Norton SystemWorks 2003 through 2007
* Norton Confidential Online 2007
* Norton Internet Security Add-on Pack
* Norton Save and Restore 1.0
* Norton 360

If your program is not in this list, do not use Norton Removal Tool. It will not remove your program.

Hopefully, they will keep this thing up to date as so far, they've been batting for Zero among me and my customers here. As in Zero successful installs of Norton Internet Security 2007. Every upgrade has been a disaster in some way from failed activation to extremely slow system performance. Do not install it unless you have a system actually made in 2007 as it will not function well after you've made the upgrade. Going on about a dozen chargebacks as people are adopting other vendors. No results from spending time with Symantec software support, it's lengthy (1-2 hours per if you let it), low calorie (you can only reinstall and use the uninstall untility so many times before it's an obvious exercise in futility) and gets no positive results (two successful reinstalls with one with 20 minute reboots, one marginally useable).

As with all software, some people will have problems installing and some will not. I hav 2 computers, 1 running XP and the other running Vista X64. I installed NIS2007 with no problems on the XP machine and I installed Beta E8.5 with no problems under Vista, but I could not get Beta E9.0 installed. BTW my system is > 1 year old.
