Hercules 3D Prophet FDX 8500 LE Review

Tweakers Australia has just posted a review of the Hercules 3D Prophet FDX 8500 LE, based on the Radeon 8500LE graphics processor. Sporting a semi-transparent blue heatsink and blue PCB, this card not only looks good, but has excellent performance for its light price tag. Here's a snip:

Hercules has to be the highest profile video card manufacturers to incorporate a Radeon family GPU into its own line. This time around it's the Radeon 8500LE, identical to the Radeon 8500 in every aspect except a slightly slower core and memory clock. To be exact, the Radeon 8500 runs a core and memory clock of 275/275MHz, while the LE version ships at 250/240MHz - or at least in the case of the 3D Prophet FDX 8500 LE. Although Hercules may not offer a full-blown 8500, the 8500LE is definitely the next best thing, and we're going to show you why!

Leadtek K7n420DA: nForce with DDR333 support

Today we take a look at Leadtek's nForce 420D chipset board- the K7n420DA. What sets this board apart from other nForce boards is the support for DDR333. Here's a bit from the review:

Even though the nForce does not support DDR-333 officially, Leadtek have found a way to make it work. When DDR-333 was selected, the POST reported memory speed as 333MHz and memory scores in Sandra were also noticeably higher which indicates that the memory is indeed running at DDR-333 speeds.
