Hope that's helpful to someone...

Well, it's not that strange to see a point release update for Adobe Reader and Acrobat this long after a major new version. In fact, I think the 6.x and 7.x line had updates even sooner. Adobe Reader 8 and Adobe Acrobat 8 came out in mid to late October 2006. It is now almost 8 months later.

In all actuality, this is to coincide with the release of Adobe Acrobat 3D 8, which just came out this week, already at version 8.1.

thanks for the direct links. I hate that they want to include all this other stuff in there which is ok and yes i know i can uncheck it. I hate that it also downloads the "downloader" first instead of just giving me the freaking file! !

Foxit used to be way faster, but since version 8 Adobe reader has pretty much mached foxit in terms of start-up time and has far surpassed foxit in terms of UI.

Thats because it launches parts of Adobe Reader when Windows starts up. Foxit doesn't.
