Angry Birds officially coming to PlayStation 3 this year, Windows Phone 7 later

Perhaps one of the iPhone's biggest success stories, Angry Birds, the popular game which stormed onto iOS devices last year, will soon be available on Sony's PlayStation 3 gaming console and on Microsoft's Windows Phone 7 platform in "some months".

"Angry Birds features hours of gameplay, challenging physics-based castle demolition, and lots of replay value," Sony wrote on their official blog earlier this morning. "Each of the 63 levels requires logic, skill, and brute force to crush the enemy."

Players of Angry Birds use a slingshot to fire "Angry Birds" at pigs, which "stole the Birds' eggs" and destroy their "fortified castles" using a number of different types of birds.

A tweet on the Rovio Mobile Twitter account today confirmed Angry Birds will be available on Microsoft's Windows Phone 7 platform in "some months," with a PC version also on the cards.

The announcement of Angry Birds for PS3 doesn't come as a complete surprise, following rumors late last year, when Rovio Mobile was in talks with game console manufacturers about expanding to their platforms.

Those wanting to play Angry Birds on the PS3 will be able to download the game from Sony's PlayStation store soon, although it's unclear at this stage what price will be charged for the game. On Apple's iOS platform the game sells for 99c on the iPhone and $4.99 for the iPad.

Angry Bitrds with NO ADS

1. Disconnect from phone network/intetnet (I do this to conserve battery)
2. Play game.

No ads - simple.

And then your phone becomes a glorified PDA

Apparently Angry bird is using the same viral marketing of Blair Witch
a) astroturfing it, saying that it is incredible.
b) Showing some hard-to-believe box-office.
c) rinse and repeat until it (b) become reality.

WTF is so special about this game? Played it on my old iPhone, didn't get the hype then and still don't get it now.
Plus Sony needs to do all they can for a system that no one plays. Stupid game for a stupid system. Birds of a feather I guess you could say.

That was slick, slipping your fanboyism into a post that looked worth reading at first.

However I do agree about this game, if I caught my wife playing angry birds on the PS3, I would be tempted to sell her PSP on eBay, lol.

Dont know how the game will work on consoles. It just seems like the game was built for touch screens. The console versions are sure to be more cumbersome.

Fun game but so over-rated, by time it comes to WP7 no one will care and it makes no sense on consoles at all.

+1 But get used to that for a while for WP7. It's the red headed step child of smartphones right now. Android had to play second fiddle for a while to the igrOSs.

Time will prove you wrong. Take my word for it

I think their going a bit to far. Yes they have a catchy name and story but PS3 ? Perhaps the PC but I think it should remain a phone game. Focus on getting it out for windows 7 phone, and some other good games. There are good ones but I just want some nice mini games.

If you have a PS3/Xbox/GamingPC and you paid to play Angry Birds on it, then you're just as retarded as the guy using it to play RollerCoaster Tycoon at QuakeCon the entire event.

Whew. For a second there I thought you were going to criticize me for building a 3GHz Core i7 with GeForce 570s in SLI rig for Windows 7 solitaire.

you know, there are several people that does not know about Kongregate, Newgrounds and Armor Games. ;-)

I think Angry birds is a cool game, don't get me wrong. but for a ps3 game? no. It should be kept for phone etc.
And other games should be given the spotlight more than Angry Birds, I'm sure there's better games out there, As Shadrack said before me.

Unless you disconnect your phone from the internet (to save battery of course!) and then you get Angry Birds with no ads

I think Angry Birds is a really cool game. But there are a LOT of cool games out for the iPhone. What I don't get is the amount of publicity Angry Birds has. There are a handful of games that have similar game play that are available for just about every platform.

I agree ... there are also some cool FREE games for Android that are more fun (IMO) than Angry Birds too. Why are they getting all the attention? Don't know, probably has to do with certain celebs using and talking about Angry Birds or whatever.

It's just one of those annoying things in the lamestream media. You have a bunch of fanboy reporters liking something, and the next thing you know, it's like the biggest sensation ever. Since nobody likes not having an exclusive, or some type of mention about it, they'll also give it a mention and thus attention as well. It's just best to ignore such articles, so they don't get as much views and such, and thus make it overall less newsworthy.

Angry birds has given me more "playtime" than ANY other game on ANY platform except my 360 (Cod).

It's given me a lot of playtime too. That wasn't my point.

In response to the "Is Angry Birds also available for the PC?" question on twitter, they replied, "give it a day..."

Or you can just go play Crush the Castle 1 & 2 over at armorgames.com. That's the original, free game that Angry Birds apparently stole...ahem.
