Apple is giving away Beats headphones with the purchase of a Mac, iPhone, or iPad

Apple announced a promotion today, offering students an opportunity to claim a pair of wireless Beats headphones with the purchase of an eligible Mac, iPhone, or iPad.

Eligible Macs include the MacBook, MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, iMac, and Mac Pro. In other words, all Macs except the Mac Mini are included in the offer. With a qualifying purchase, a $299.95 credit will be applied to your order to purchase Beats Solo2 Wireless Headphones.

Your choices in iPhones are the 6, 6 Plus, 6s, and 6s Plus, and if you opt for an iPad, it must be one of the iPad Pro models. With any of the eligible iOS devices, you get a choice in your free pair of headphones. You'll receive a $199.95 credit to purchase either Powerbeats2, or you can get the Beats Solo2 Wireless Headphones that you'd get with a Mac - but you'd have to pay the remaining $100 balance.

The choice to offer all wireless headphones is certainly an interesting one. Many have speculated already that this may be further evidence that Apple is planning to kill off the headphone jack with the iPhone 7.

The offer begins today, and you have until September 5 to take advantage. One catch: to qualify for the offer, you must be eligible for an education discount, meaning you need to either be a teacher or a student.
