Apple releases MacBook with Core 2 Duo

Apple has officially gone ahead and updated its MacBook line with Core 2 Duo processors, offering up to 25% more speed, and increasing battery life with efficiency updates in the new Core 2 Duo chips. This is following the MacBook Pro update, which made that 39% faster, and also gave it longer battery life. The MacBook lineup features 2 white designs, and a black version which, for $200, upgrades the hard drive from 80GB to 120GB.

That's one thing I can tick off my MacBook wish list. The others are:
* dedicated GPU
* 802.11n
* Blu-Ray and/or HD-DVD
* smaller screen (though 13" will suffice)

Uh...huh... and where's the news releases from other manufacturers who have long since had core duo processors in their laptops???

This is nothing that Dell, Gateway, and many other manufacturers have already done so why is it so news worthy???

This is Apple, company which is making one of the most reliable computers. This is really big. And this is Apple, simply, fast, good, just prefect. Try one for few days and you will feel that.

OK, so you love Mac... who cares? That still doesn't explain why their core 2 duo laptops make news when other manufacturers' don't.

Is there anything unique about it comapred to other laptops? No. Just the fact that it's a Mac. Therefore, it's not really big. It's not even a little big. And it's the farthest thing from "perfect" because it's man made, just like every other computer.

And, unlike you, I am Mac certified and experienced so stop acting like your opinion is so much better than anyone else's.

Oh I don't know. Why is the Article "HP Releases Price and Ship Date for 30-inch LCD" relevant when Apple has had 30" LCDs for ages?

It's a new product line, it's newsworthy, get over it.

Beat me to it.

You know, I get this slight feeling that maybe C_Guy doesn't like Apple.

Plenty of laptops have cameras. One right about same time Apple integrated it too - can't remember if it was Acer or ASUS that did it.

That sounds REALLY fake, LOL.

Thre are people who are excited about this, because it *is* Apple. Apple is 110% differentiated from Dell, HP, Gateway, and others, not just because they have such a unique and distinguished history in this business, but because the is a real, palpable, vibrant "Apple Culture" that is interested in this news. Apple is an American (and world) icon. It is a cultural phenomenon, like McDonalds. HP, Gateway, Dell etc., are not.

If you can't easily differentiate Apple from the *others*, and therefore understand why news out of Cupertino is meaningful in and of itself, then you've been locked in a closet for the past 20 years, or you simply hate Apple (inordinately) and relish any and every opportunity to ruin others' enjoyment of the company's success.

And your brand of trolling has been getting out of hand lately. It's the kind childish behaviour that will get you warnings. You're extremely disruptive, and I'm quite confident that others feel the same. Bad Apples (cute pun!) usually get thrown out. So grow up.

bleh we need a discrete video card why cant apple just put that on a macbook a ati x1400 would be great...

i hate it when this happens. Now it just makes my current macbook feel old and outdated, even though it is still perfectly fine and runs great. I hate how apple makes you feel.

a good thing about that is that the prices are still the same but for the 2 ghz macbook you get 512mb ram "for free", iirc. i might be wrong tho but i think the "old" ones were all with only 512 mb ram. at least the white ones.
