Apple's iPhone event for September 10th announced

Apple has announced that they will be holding an event on September 10th, which aligns to the previous rumors about that next iPhone unveiling. It is expected that Apple will show off the iPhone 5S as well as a new device, possible called the 5C that will be a lower priced device.

The iPhone 5S is expected to be a refresh of the iPhone 5 and may bring with it new security features such as a fingerprint scanner and additional color options. Along with beefed up internals, Apple may bump the specs of the camera too, this will help it compete against the Samsung Galaxy S4 and Nokia’s new beast, the Lumia 1020 with its 41 megapixel sensor.

The iPhone 5C is expected to be a lower end device that will come in a wide variety of colors at a discounted price. Current rumors suggest that Apple could strip out Siri from the 5C to help differentiate the two platforms, but all will be revealed on September 10th when Apple holds their event.

As stated previously, it is not expected that Apple will announce new iPads at this event and that they will likely hold an event, later in the year, to show off their new tablets.

Suppose we lived in a world where utilizing dead bodies to do things wasn't weird? Imagine professionals puppeteering Steve Jobs dead body with the eyes rolled over to present the new iPhone?

Any word on whether iTunes 12 with iRadio will be shown here?

I've not seen it mentioned on the rumour sites - people seem to be focusing on new iPhones and possibly iOS 7.

it will be interesting to see the final build of iOS7.
There seems to be a lot of controversy over the design changes in the betas.

If the leaked hardware shots are to be believed, it seems like iPhone 5S = iPhone 5 (now in colour).
I'll most likely read a liveblog after the fact.

Can't wait for it, I been waiting for iOS7 since it was announced, if the iPhone 5C comes unlocked and with a good price, maybe i would buy one.

Horrible poster design. Looks like those little plastic circles they give you at Bingo Night to cover the numbers/letters.

Three big announcements today: Microsoft/Nokia, Android 4.4 KitKat and this. I care more about the first two, but those Apple keynotes are fun to watch.

It's more fun watching the iLemmings bin their existing beloved device and clamer for the latest non innovative slab.

P.T. Barnum would be so delighted!

You sellout a phone by announcing an event? Damn, my whole life is a lie.
Only in the Apple world my Neowin brother! Won't you join us?

1) iOS 7 will be finalized but not actually released.
2) iPhone 5S & 5C will be announced but not actually released.

That's all I'm expecting, anything in addition to that would be nice, though. (How about announcing iTunes Match 2.0 that fixes the syncing errors?)

I'm hoping for Haswell Macbook Pro's..

In fact I'm hoping they kill off the traditional Macbook Pro line and only sell retina's, but bring the price down to that Macbook Pro prices

It seems that recently, Apple announces software releases before they are ready. I doubt the iPhone hardware will be available on the 10th, and it makes sense that iOS 7 won't be released until the same time as the new hardware.

Apple's events lack the 'reality distortion' that Steve jobs gave to them. They honestly seem like ordinary company product announcement events now. If you watch a event with jobs and one now, you can tell a big difference.

Hard to argue with that - love him or hate him, Steve Jobs was always entertaining to watch. I used to make a point of tuning into all the keynotes / launches he gave but never bother any more

Coupled with the fact that every tech company under the sun tries to have these 'events' now, the Apple ones aren't as much as a novelty they once were (Facebook are particularly bad for hosting events for very poor reasons)

You clearly don't want to believe! Seriously though, I don't have an expensive monitor but it looks light brown and not orange to me.

lol.. As long as Apple sticks to design first then se what fits and by that wants ever slimmer/lighter devices they'll never be able to come close to a better camera.

That doesn't even make sense...

If they add a single pixel of resolution to the camera sensor, it is automatically a better camera. One step up, regardless of how small the step, is still a better camera so your statement that it will never be able to come close to a better camera makes no sense.

41 megapixels in a camera phone is ridiculous. Even professional cameras like the Nikon D4 and Canon 1D have fewer megapixels. More pixels does not mean a better camera, but the market will see it differently.

No, but they mean you can crop the photo and, effectively, "zoom" in extremely far. This is a feature that is highly useful for a mobile phone. Also if you decide to resize the photo down to, say, 5MP, then the quality is significantly better than comparable camera phones.
